Today I put the kids to work sharpening crayons and collecting the shavings so that we could make Easter egg silhouettes. Wow - are they messy! I had no idea until we got into it. The girls really enjoyed making them though.
First you shave the crayons.Here they are in the bowl!
Next, lay them onto wax paper and flatten them out.Fold the wax paper over and have an iron ready and set on the lowest setting. I placed the wax paper between two pieces of scrapbook paper and then iron it for about 30-45 seconds.
It melts the crayons together and leaves a really pretty design. I made a template onto cardboard of an ester egg and then cut out the wax paper. After that I whole punched the top and attached ribbon. The less crayons you use, the more it shimmers through if you hang them by a window!
