"A grandpa is someone with silver in his hair
and gold in his heart."
Thursday is half day for Bailey and Parker - I couldn't have planned a better way to spend it than by going to the park with Happy Meals, my mom's dog and my sweet Grandpa.
While the kids played in the sun and ran with the dog, Grandpa told me some of his many stories he remembers of being a kid himself and growing up in a large family.
I am so impressed by his sharp memory of things in the past {Now the future is what might be a different story} and all that he can recall with exactness. He remembers names, places and dates! I don't even remember what I ate for breakfast this morning! He is also so funny and will often be heard saying "I am 86 years old and have had two triple bypass surgeries! What do you think of that?" I really love him so much and I am so grateful that he lives so close so that my little ones can come to know and love him as well!
With all the business of being back to school, I have lists of things I should be doing and checking off - but this was definitely a day well spent!

Love your daughters jumper and the shoe pic. I'm a sucker for Grandpa's...so cute!
I ate breakfast with your gramps on Monday at the Labor Day Breakfast...and when I sat down...he said "Hi Jamie...and he looked at everyone at the table and said I've known this girl since she was a little girl." I couldn't believe his memory...He was so cute...Those pictures will be priceless for Parker and Bailey and so will the memories!
I love half days, (and happy meals too). It is so great to have that one day that feels a lot like vacation, but really isn't....like cheating...but not really!
I LOVE the first picture. You are so great at capturing the little details! Every time I see a little kid with a dog, I start to think I want a dog :) That's fun to get a little dog fix by pet sitting.
I love that first picture too, with the shoes! I love the effects you used on it! Too cute.
This makes me miss my Grandpas! What a great day.
What I would give for a day with Grandpa for my kids. You are so lucky!
