Power of women!

Mom
Okay - so my deep thought for tonight is that we need to celebrate and validate being mom's and women. I think we all get down on ourselves and compare at times and it's not good! Because no one is perfect and they have us fooled if we think they are. Something has got to give - their house (as is my case) their children's needs (as is not my case) their husband's....something!

I have been getting a lot of grief lately about my posts with all of the baking and the goodies. I am in no way trying to paint a pretty picture and make it seem like I lead a perfect life! I DON'T!!! Oh my... if you could only see my downstairs right now!
I have good days and bad - but I do try to consistently make the Choice to have a good day and find some inner peace amidst the craziness of four kids and all that comes with it.

I had a friend once say to me that I couldn't possibly understand her problems because I was always so happy and never seemed to be down or depressed. That really hurt me as I felt that she must not be a true friend than because she didn't see me on the days when I wanted to run away or at least pretend to not be a mom for a while! I am so grateful for the select people in my life that I can be real with and tell my struggles and woes to. They don't judge me but they do help me see things with a different perspective - we ALL need people like that!

Okay...wow... I am really on one right now... maybe it is because I just got back from visiting teaching girls in my ward and they were all talking about the exact same struggles - keeping up with every day life, trying not to lose their identity, and loving their little ones. What great girls they all are and I just wanted them to realize that they are doing a great job and are amazing women. They CAN do it and need to be recognized for loving their jobs as moms to these special little children.

Now if I can only follow my own advice!

This is such a great post. I tend to be happy and upbeat most of the time and I'm not a worrier. I too think that people sometimes perceive my life as "perfect" when it is SO far from it. I just always try to see things, "glass half full". But I certainly have my struggles. Ang

You are so wonderful Heather...I've alwasy said and I know you live by this rule that happiness is a choice...not a set of circumstances...I kind of see it as a commandment...the Lord did say to Adam and Eve...go forth and BE Happy...he didn't say if you are rich...you'll be happy or if your kids behave in church you'll be happy...he just commanded them to be happy...thanks for being such a great example of this very principle. Love you mutt!

Thanks for this post! I always did look up to you as a little girl, and now I see why! What a wonderful woman you are, and so true and sincere. C'mon! We would be Robots if life was all happy-smiley all the time. We all have our personalities that are unique, and have different ways of showing "struggle", expecially to whom we want to share our struggles with. (I can count those people on one hand). Thanks for the inspiration and for letting me know "I'm not alone" ...... xoxo Christina

This is an awesome post. I think womanhood is pretty undervalued in our society, and it leaves a lot of women feeling down on themselves.

Love this. We as women, especially LDS women, tend to compare ourselves a lot. But little do we know the real struggles and trials that everyone goes through. I don't tend to blog about my trials or bad days, so I'm afraid I may come off too perfect sometimes too.

Who's been giving you crap about baking treats??? What would they think of me...?

Good post. Perfection is for people that don't have anything better to worry about...or something like that.

No one knows exactly what is going on in a persons life or the struggles they are facing. It's a lesson for me to just be kind to everyone and give them the benefit of the doubt.

I do love your positive attitude and outlook on life, but you are allowed to have some down and frustrating days too.
